welcome to
salonnoire
A Collective of Black feminists creating new blueprints for how we lead, live, and work.
salonnoire is a member-led collective futures studio. We gather to think together, write together, and design the futures our communities deserve. We partner with organizations ready to imagine and build more equitable futures.
on our name
salonnoire
salon (gathering space) + noire (Black)
Our name salonnoire invokes the intellectual and cultural tradition of Black women gathering their community to think, create, and conspire toward a more liberated world. We honor the legacies of A'lelia Walker, Zora Neale Hurston, Gwendolyn Brooks, and the many women who curated vibrant community spaces that fueled cultural, artistic, and social movements — and who did not wait for an institution to validate the conversation before they had it.

how we gather
Independent Study & Writing Groups
A dedicated sacred space for focus, deep thought, and progress. Members drop in to work on their respective projects, finding a collective rhythm alongside fellow writers, researchers, and creators.
Futures salons
Dialogue and listening sessions that start with a single inquiry, expanding outward. Everyone brings their own research, lived practice, and unique questions to the room to build a richer collective understanding of the futures we’re building towards.
community workshops
Public seminars, interactive workshops, and inquiry sessions open to our broader network and community. These live gatherings shape our evolving public programming and are announced through the newsletter.
Membership is by invitation.
salonnoire is a curated community thoughtfully composed to ensure every member is aligned with our mission and committed to the depth of engagement this space requires.
We hold space for Black feminists and womanists who are actively doing the work — building, researching, creating, and imagining toward liberated futures. If you feel called to this community, you are welcome to request an invitation.
